WHAT CAN A SINGLE BOOK ACCOMPLISH? Well, consider this: Publication in 16 languages as well as Braille, readers in over 130 countries, thousands of individual lives transformed—and still being transformed—more than a century after its initial printing. And yet, as significant as the global reach of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures has been in the past 130 years, "we've only seen a modest measure of its potential, its full healing power," says Ethel Baker, Manager of The Writings of Mary Baker Eddy and Christian Science Reading Room Activities.
The scope of the Writings Office's publishing activities extends beyond Science and Health—Mrs. Eddy's definitive book on the metaphysics and practice of Christian healing. It also publishes all of Mrs. Eddy's other books, as well as the Concord research software for students of those books and the Bible.
Overseeing these activities is a relatively new endeavor for Ethel, a Christian Science practitioner who has previously served the Church of Christ, Scientist, in several editorial and managerial roles over more than 20 years—most recently as Manager of the Church's local activities in Boston. But this new position has only enhanced her appreciation for the book that, along with the Bible, is at the heart of Mrs. Eddy's Church and its healing ministry.
