Testimonies of Healing

The healing touch of Christ

From the June 2005 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I NEVER EXPECTED our family vacation to end the way it did—with me battling what appeared to be a severe case of food poisoning.

When it first hit, I was unable to move or breathe easily because of the pain. So I called for my husband. He immediately reminded me of God's presence and of His love for me. He encouraged me to pray with the ideas from "the scientific statement of being" (see Science and Health, p. 468). which explains that because God is Spirit, His creation must be spiritual, not material. I'd found in the past that understanding more about God and my realtionship to Him brings helaing, So, despite my fear, I felt confident turning to these ideas again.

As the symptoms became more alarming, though, I got very concerned and asked my mother-in-law, a Christian Science practitioner, to pray with me. She spoke to me of God's wonderful love and care, and said that I could think of this love in relation to how I mother my sons. In the same way I care for them, she assured me, God was caring for me, right then, as my divine Father-Mother.
