MY FATHER, my two brothers, and I had started a job remodeling an unattached garage at a house out in the country. The first day was miserable for me. It was extremely hot, and I wasn't enjoying the work. My negative attitude continued all morning.
About an hour before lunch, as I was clearing a bunch of boards out of the garage, I stepped on a board that had a nail sticking through it. I felt the nail go into my foot, and quickly lifted up my leg. The board was stuck to my shoe. My older brother, who was with me, quickly and gently removed the board and the nail from my foot.
At first I was very upset, and then fear set in. I told my father what had happened, and he began praying aloud for me. He quoted many statements from Science and Health, but the one that really caught my attention was, "... nothing inharmonious can enter being, for Life is God" (p. 228).
