MY SON was a sickly child. He had a severe allergy to wheat flour and needed to be kept on a very strict diet—one that didn't include bread, cookies, cake, or pancakes, all of which made him violently ill. Avoiding wheat flour was quite difficult because it's a common ingredient in so many foods. And so, as a result, my son was often sick.
Then one day, a friend gave me a copy of Science and Health, and I began to read it. I also started to attend services at a local branch Church of Christ, Scientist, and my son began to attend Sunday School.
There we learned what God is—divine Life, Truth, Love, Spirit, Soul, Mind, and Principle—and that each of us is actually the image and likeness of God. Because God is Truth, and we are Truth's image and likeness, we are honest and truthful, we have integrity. Because God is Mind, and we are Mind's image and likeness, we are intelligence, we have understanding and wisdom. I also heard about healings that people were having through understanding their relationship to God.
