WHILE RETURNING HOME from a vacation, I severely twisted my ankle getting off an airport shuttle bus. The ankle swelled dramatically, and I could not walk without intense pain. As soon as I arrived home, I called a Christian Science practitioner for treatment.
In my college days, I had twisted the same ankle. At that time, a medical exam and X-ray indicated a fracture. My leg was in a cast for several weeks. Now, I felt certain that the ankle was fractured again. This time I decided to rely exclusively on Christian Science treatment for healing.
I found great insight and support in Mary Baker Eddy's statement on page 380 of Science and Health: "Contending for the evidence or indulging the demands of sin, disease, or death, we virtually contend against the control of Mind over body, and deny the power of Mind to heal."
