MY FIRST HEALING in Christian Science came early. I was born feet first with badly damaged feet. The doctor told my mother that I would probably never walk. My dear grandmother, who was studying Christian Science, contacted a Christian Science practitioner to pray for me. The practitioner visited my mother in the hospital. While I am not certain when the healing took place, I have been told that I walked at nine months of age. The completeness of this healing is evident in the fact that I have enjoyed many years studying various forms of dance, starting at four years of age, and have taught dancing professionally.
During a compulsory medical examination a number of years ago, a large tumour in my stomach was discovered. This was later confirmed by the specialist to whom I had been referred. He also expressed concern over another mass behind the tumour that he couldn't identify. He recommended immediate surgery. This was the first time in my life that I had to deal with a medical diagnosis, and it had quite an effect on me. I went home, had a good cry, and then called a Christian Science practitioner for prayerful treatment. I was so used to turning to God for healing that I never considered any other course of action. The practitioner agreed to support me with prayer.
After about six months, I discontinued Christian Science treatment because I was scheduled to take a 12-day class in Christian Science healing for which I had been accepted prior to this condition being diagnosed.
