INNER VISION

A CONVERSATION WITH EBERHARD LASCH

From the August 2007 issue of The Christian Science Journal

LOOKING FOR RELIEF? TURN IN PRAYER TO THE OMNIPRESENT SPIRIT, THE DIVINE MIND, WHO WILL DELIVER YOU FROM ANY KIND OF TROUBLE, SAYS CHRISTIAN SCIENCE PRACTITIONER AND TEACHER EBERHARD LASCH FROM MEXICO CITY.

Eberhard Lasch stopped in Boston in June—just long enough for me to snap his picture and touch base on our e-mail dialogue that ended up spanning three continents. I caught him between stops in Spain and South America on his Christian Science lecture tour.

"I spend many hours at airports and inside flight machines," Eberhard told me (which made me smile). His father left Germany for Mexico in 1939. After the Second World War, Eberhard and the rest of his family escaped from what had become East Germany, and they joined his father in Mexico. "Mexico was a paradise!" Eberhard says. Today, he travels a lot. Technology helps. "I have a Palm handheld with keyboard (which gives me cellphone and e-mail access), and that is my office. On a tiny memory card I have several Bible translations, all the writings of Mary Baker Eddy, and all my lectures and other notes. My office goes with me wherever I go."
