I WOKE UP one Monday morning at 5:30 feeling refreshed and inspired from the Christian Science Sunday church service I had attended the day before. I spent some time studying the weekly Bible Lesson from the Christian Science Quarterly, praying and doing some writing, as I usually do every morning.
I had some errands to do that day, so I left the house about 7:30 a.m. I felt buoyant with God's joy, peace, and harmony. An overwhelming sense of gratitude for God's goodness, love, and presence flooded my being.
After finishing my errands, I walked over to the public transportation kiosk to take a bus home. Before boarding, I asked the driver when he would be leaving. Obviously annoyed with my question, he evaded it and answered with some vague remark. So, I asked again. This time, he shot back with "Does it really matter what time the bus leaves? Are you always this demanding?" Instantly I became angry, and we engaged in a verbal exchange that soon escalated into childish name-calling by both of us.
