I HAD GROWN UP as a Roman Catholic, but during my college years, I prayed to be shown a system that could help me heal just as Jesus did.
At an open forum in college one day, I asked a clergyman why he and other clergymen didn't heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons, and raise the dead as Jesus commanded his followers? Some of the students at the gathering were pleased with the question and wanted to hear the answer. Some were mocking me and said I was seeking cheap popularity. The clergyman reacted swiftly. He picked up his books, left the classroom, and headed to the office of the college principal.
Later that afternoon, the principal summoned me to his office. It was not a joke to be summoned to a principal's office, because it could result in suspension or expulsion from college. I panicked. The clergyman complained that I had insulted the church and its clergy. Therefore, he recommended that I should be expelled, and added that I would become an atheist. The principal, however, ruled that I would not be sent away or punished for asking such an intelligent question. Instead, he warned me to direct any such questions to him alone. I promised not to disobey the principal's directive, but I was still determined that God would lead me to find an answer to my question.
