Poems

Soaring

From the September 2010 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Throughout the day and into the night,
God's wings take me into the sky.
No boundaries, no limits, no flight path too high.

But caught in a dream, as night might bring,
I'm grounded, no flight, dragging one wing.
Stalled, afraid, no help to be found,
Am I abandoned? Earthbound?

I wake with a start to the light of the day.
I reach out to Love, wholeheartedly pray:
Help me, dear Lord, to soar and sing.
Let me feel the strength only You can bring.

Awake, alert, and ready to see,
Nothing is lost that is true about me.
God gives me wing, God moves my flight.
Love never leaves me day or night.

Again I'm soaring, back in flight,
Throughout the day and into the night.
Divine insight shows me Your flight plans,
Your might lifts me skyward, not man's.
