Transitioning to a new Treasurer of The Mother Church

From the August 2011 issue of The Christian Science Journal

J. Edward (Ned) Odegaard has served as Treasurer of The Mother Church since January 2005 and has, for some months now, been expressing his desire to devote his full attention to the public practice of Christian Science healing. With deep gratitude for his inspired and expert stewardship and in support of his love for the healing practice, the Christian Science Board of Directors has accepted Ned’s proposed resignation and has appointed Lyon Osborn as Treasurer Elect. Lyon and Ned will work together over the next few months to bring about a smooth transfer of duties to Lyon, to be completed by Labor Day.

Lyon Osborn comes to the role of Treasurer with a breadth of experience on both the “Church-side” and the “Publishing-side” of our organization. His management of the business and operations aspects of the Publishing Society, his general management skills, keen intellect, personal integrity, and commitment to service and growth have established a solid foundation for taking on the role of Treasurer. Over the next several months, Lyon will devote a meaningful portion of his schedule to becoming familiar with all areas of the Treasurer’s work.

The Board has been deeply grateful for Ned’s business counsel, and the entire Church organization has been the beneficiary of his clear sense of dominion over financial matters. We are all grateful for his steady, calm hand, his attention to detail, and his concern for long-term financial planning.
