I have four dogs—a Great Dane, a border collie mix, and two blue heeler mixes—that I take for walks at least twice a day. One day, nearing dusk, I decided we would walk the trail around our property. As I gathered my dogs together, Bandit, one of my heeler mixes, ran across the road to my neighbor’s yard.
After I called him back, a car came around the corner and hit him as he crossed. The car did not stop, but continued on. When I ran across the road, I found Bandit lying motionless on the side of the asphalt.
My first thought was fear that my little dog was seriously hurt or killed. I began to pray, but I was angry at the driver, as well as angry at myself for not watching my dog more closely.
