The parable of the tares and the wheat (see Matthew 13:24–30, 36–43) can help us see the permanency and abundant prosperity of man as God’s perfect image, pure, innocent, free, and strong. Studying this parable, letting it speak to us, and seeing its application to our own lives can increase our knowledge of God and bring peace and healing.
When I read this parable recently, new understanding arose that I hadn’t previously considered. In it we have a householder who “sowed good seed in his field.” Christ Jesus then tells us that “while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat.” He goes on to say, “When the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.”
God expresses Himself in us, and the Christlike nature that manifests God is our true nature.
