Order, precision, and the warmth of reflected Love

From the July 2017 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I have much appreciated reading reminiscences of those who lived in Mary Baker Eddy’s household, and learning of how she encouraged her students to become stronger metaphysical workers. In particular, reading Mary Baker Eddy: Christian Healer, Amplified Edition, by Yvonne Caché von Fettweis and Robert Townsend Warneck, and We Knew Mary Baker Eddy, Expanded Edition, Volumes 1 and 2, has greatly helped me get to know her life story better and gain a better understanding of her primary work, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.

Mrs. Eddy taught that God is the only Mind and the only intelligent source of all being and movement. She also sought to manifest that reality in her life. She expressed precision in her thinking. Consequently, there was harmony and order expressed in her household as well.

Because she was alert and precise, Mrs. Eddy knew where items in her household needed to be in order to be of most use. She sometimes lovingly reminded her staff when they needed to be more accurate in their work—and in their thinking.
