When our oldest daughter was sixteen, our family took a weekend ski trip to our local mountains. None of us had ever skied before. Our four kids took a few ski lessons and fell down often, but they remained eager to go back up on the slope for another try. Mom and Dad stayed below, watching their efforts to master the slope.
On the drive back home after a fun-filled weekend, I heard some whispering in the back seat of our station wagon. Our oldest daughter started to cry and said she had an intense pain in her lower back and couldn’t find a comfortable way to sit.
As was our custom, each member of the family immediately began to pray. I recalled this statement from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy: “A spiritual idea has not a single element of error, and this truth removes properly whatever is offensive” (p. 463).
