As far back as I can remember, I was in search of a better understanding of God. I was introduced to Christian Science as a young adult, and for a while I attended a Presbyterian church on Sundays and a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, on Wednesdays.
It was at these midweek testimony meetings, where attendees shared how God was influencing their lives, that I first learned the practicality of Christian Science. God was being loved and His truth lived in the lives of these Christian Scientists, and their warm embrace of a newcomer was so welcome.
One of the first testimonies I shared at a Wednesday evening meeting was the healing of a burned hand. I noted with amazement that even though my hand looked bad, there was no pain after I prayed with spiritual truths I was learning. The pain stopped when I realized I didn’t have to accept the belief that matter could make me suffer.
