Christian Science explains that in order to experience the harmony and happiness of spiritual reality, we must give credence to spiritual sense and stop letting the material senses determine what we think. In the textbook of Christian Science, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy says, “Sin, disease, whatever seems real to material sense, is unreal in divine Science” (p. 353).
There was a time when one of my jobs involved hanging ductwork. One day I was working alone on a remodel job where I had to hang a large, cube-shaped fan over the top of an existing pipe. As I was pushing the duct jack to move the fan into place, one of its wheels stuck and the duct jack tipped over. Either the fan, the duct jack, or both landed on my forehead. I found myself lying on the floor, bleeding profusely, with the fan and duct jack lying next to me.
I called my wife, a Christian Science practitioner. I asked her to pray for me and to come pick me up at the job site. She agreed and said that there were no accidents in God’s kingdom, and that I assuredly lived in God’s kingdom.
