The breadth and certainty of God’s healing power is recorded in the Bible, spanning several thousand years of human history. This continuous ribbon of healings includes cures of infertility, accidents, illness, blindness, deformity, and death, to name a few. No material medicine or physical manipulation was relied upon, just prayer, resulting in alignment with the harmony of God, divine Mind. These healings are proofs of the medicine of Mind restoring health, the biblical meaning of which is wholeness or perfection.
Christ Jesus said, “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect” (Matthew 5:48). He knew that health and perfection are sourced directly from God, not gained by manipulating matter or employing material remedies. Health expresses God’s law, and Jesus healed multitudes of all their infirmities, showing that health is the innate condition of man’s true being as the perfect expression of God.
Christ Jesus’ method of healing remains the most effective the world has ever known. The record of every other healing method, regardless of improvements, still pales in comparison to the record of the master healer. And Jesus’ statement that the works he did, his followers would do also, is an explicit promise that the healing power of God is ever available to all, because God’s law is universal and all God’s children are governed by it. But today, in a world where matter is commonly believed to be the basis of all life, using material medicine is prevalently practiced and promoted as the only rational means for maintaining health, while relying on God for healing seems to many impossible.
