One day, as I was driving on a rough patch of road heading toward a parking lot, I hit a pothole and heard a clunk. I kept going, but immediately it sounded as if something was dragging, so I slowly prepared to turn into the parking area to take a look at what was causing the sound. But when I pressed the brake to stop, nothing happened. The brakes failed completely, and the car continued over a small curb and began heading down a steep slope toward the exit of the expressway where I had recently been. Traffic was flowing at the bottom of the hill.
At that moment I turned wholeheartedly to God, praying to know I was in God’s protective, loving arms and couldn’t harm or be harmed. I didn’t feel at all fearful. I knew that God was in control and I was safe in His care.
After the initial increase of speed due to the decline, I felt a slowing down, and the car came to a complete stop right on the hill. There were several small, thick bushes on the hill that I hadn’t noticed before, and they were now holding the car in place.
