When the parables of the master Christian are studied in the light of Christian Science, fresh and inspiring views of their profoundly practical value are unfolded. A student who had been meditating upon the parable of the lilies, with its teaching of self-forgetfulness, its healing of the thought anxious about progress and supply, suddenly noted that he had been dwelling almost exclusively upon the beauty of the bloom, comparing it to the lovely result he so earnestly desired in his own experience, whereas Jesus' first injunction is to "consider the lilies of the field, how they grow.

Have you ever asked yourself: Why am I here? Is life worth living? What is my reason for existing? When momentous questions such as these present themselves to Christian Scientists, they turn to the Bible and to the writings of our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for an answer. Christian Scientists being followers of Christ Jesus, his reason for being is their reason too.

In spite of the fact that scarcely a family in the world has been untouched by the war, it is still absolutely true that peace, not war, is the perpetual reality of being. There is no war, no fighting or discord in infinite Love.

Although mankind has been educated to believe that mortals are physical beings, living in a material world and subject to laws of limitation, the teaching of Mary Baker Eddy shows that actually mortals are materially mental; that as such it is possible for them to learn in Christian Science the facts of spiritual existence; and that at last mortal consciousness itself will yield to the allness of divine Mind, God, and cease to be an obstructing factor. During the present world conflict, people in all walks of life are pausing to pray for guidance and help and wisdom. Referring to the beloved Master, Luke tells us, "And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint.

In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 337) our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, gives us this statement: "Eternal things (verities) are God's thoughts as they exist in the spiritual realm of the real.
