Exploring in depth what Christian Science is and how it heals.

"THE CEMENT OF A HIGHER HUMANITY"

Dwelling in the midst of a material and idolatrous civilization, Abraham, because of his spirituality, heard the divine admonition to leave his country and to go unto "the land of Canaan. " In Hebrews it is said of Abraham that he "looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.

APPLICATION OF THE LESSON-SERMON

The Christian Science church stands with outstretched arms calling to mankind as the prophet called of old, "Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters. " It promises rest to the weary, reform to the sinner, health to the suffering, peace to the troubled, comfort to the sorrowing.

THE MAN GOD KNOWS

If we would know the man God made, we must also know God, who made him. The reason for that necessity is stated plainly in "Miscellaneous Writings," where Mary Baker Eddy says ( p.

LOVE

" Good is my God, and my God is good. Love is my God, and my God is Love," constitutes the "diapason of heaven" constantly accentuated by the real Christian Scientist.

THE GENIUS OF HEBREW POETRY

It may come as a surprise to many sincere students of the Bible to learn that a considerable proportion of the Old Testament is written in poetry; an interesting fact seldom, if ever, clearly suggested in our Authorized Version as commonly printed. If one turns, however, to the Hebrew text, or to such modern renderings as those prepared by Dr.

DIVINE ACTIVITY

The world at large seems to be suffering from the belief that useful, progressive activity has lapsed into a negative state of stagnation, thwarted careers, unrewarded endeavors. This problem is regarded by many as well-nigh impossible to solve, and is held steadily before the world's gaze by the constant repetition of such aggressive terms as "depression," "recession," "layoffs," "shutdowns," and the like.

"THE SIMPLICITY THAT IS IN CHRIST"

Oftentimes the very simplicity of the truth of being appears a stumbling block to men, so accustomed have they become to having their vision blurred in the dusty atmosphere of material codes and theories. Simplicity, as a quality which in one sense means "freedom from subtlety or abstruseness;.

CHRIST-HEALING

An inspiring picture is given us in the fourth chapter of Luke's Gospel, where it is recorded of Jesus: "Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them. " Can we not catch the vision of the Master as he waits patiently while the multitude seeks his services in healing the sick and suffering? It does not take a great stretch of the imagination to see the weary ones as they approach the Teacher, or to visualize the transforming joy diffusing their countenances as they leave after receiving their healing.

REDEEMING HUMAN SOCIETY

Throughout history the human mind has repeatedly made the mistake of thinking of the partial good achieved as an end in itself. It has tried to erect into systems various forms of improved belief, hoping thereby to achieve a permanent basis of happiness for mankind.
