Wednesday evening meetings at a Church of Christ, Scientist, are always special occasions. There was one Wednesday night, however, when the meeting was so helpful to me that an idea from the readings has stayed with me for years.
One morning after reading the Bible Lesson, outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly, I felt truly inspired. I rejoiced in the love I was feeling from God and in the knowledge of His spiritual creation as it unfolded to me from the pages of the Bible and of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.
When my son was a toddler, and I found that it was occasionally necessary to correct him for misbehavior, he would come and stand right in front of me, cover his eyes with his hands, and wait for the session to be over! He would then come closer for a hug and be off playing again. How often I have thought of this when I've made a mistake.
The world's great need of healing reflects a mental need. Strife, calamities, and seemingly insoluble problems express the fermenting of human thought as it's forced to yield to the unseen leavening action of the Christ, the divine idea of God.
This series of articles focuses on the healings brought about by Mary Baker Eddy through her reliance on God. These healings began in her childhood and continued throughout her life.
Can we think of a single wrong committed toward us that would be greater than those committed toward Christ Jesus? Dear friends, reading the textbook, Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy, is also a great blessing for my spiritual life, in spite of the fact that there are many things which I still can't discern clearly. It is lovely and a blessing to read its pages, since while my spirit is being immersed in that truth, my heart joyfully seizes upon the explanations that are given in the textbook.
