Exploring in depth what Christian Science is and how it heals.

The Founder at work (1896-1898)

Mary Baker Eddy: a lifetime of healing Mary Baker Eddy began 1896 by delivering a communion address in her own Church in Boston, Massachusetts—The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist. In her talk she turned thought away from the persecution of Jesus of Nazareth to his demonstration of divine, infinite Love, forgiving his enemies, which enabled him to overcome the cross and the grave.

Struggles—opportunities to prove our unity with God

It is natural to expect healing in Christian Science to come quickly. There may be times, though, when it isn't immediate, and we need to be firm in keeping out harmful thoughts that would impose themselves on us.

Irreversible being

Everyone longs for enduring good, for well-being and sufficiency that are incapable of reversal. And actually, everyone can have such good—forever! But in order to realize this eternally harmonious state in present experience, we must gain something—not something outside ourselves, but a perception, within consciousness, of the truth of being.

Consecrating the minutiae of our lives

Safety in God's all-presence

We hear a great deal through the news media about crime and violence—crime on the streets, in schools, and even in people's homes. People have been asking such obvious questions as: Where can one go to feel safe? Is there such a place? Meaningful answers don't come easily or without deep thought.

No cover for crime

Often it seems as if crime succeeds because evil intent lays its schemes undetected. Aliases, darkness, intimidation, even supposedly legitimate business—these are some of crime's attempted covers.

An unambiguous Christianity

The Apostle Paul was not a compromising man. When it came to the message and standards of Christ, he didn't retreat.

• A couple searching for a book about healing were referred to Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, by an employee in a general-interest Detroit, Michigan, bookstore. They had not heard of Science and Health previously, and upon the employee's recommendation purchased a copy to take home and read.
