Exploring in depth what Christian Science is and how it heals.

First love

We were on the Isle of Patmos, just outside the cave where St. John is said to have lived in exile and to have written his letters to the Asian churches.

The how to of class participation—Part II

Inspiration Inspiration is like a bucket of fireflies. Once you've filled the bucket, just peel off the lid and stand back.

Why repentance?

How does Christian Science actually bring reform and healing to disturbed or diseased human lives? This is a question the newcomer often asks, but its answer is just as vital to the more seasoned student of this Science. Many people assume there is a hidden power in the human mind that enables it to put itself right, and that what we need to do is tap this supposed resource.

Prison work: a light in the darkness

Perhaps you have agreed to serve as a Christian Science worker in a prison. How can you prepare for the assignment? If you are experienced in branch church work, have had class instruction, and have healed yourself and others, you have actually been preparing for institutional work for some time.

A Christian without proof of his idealism might be compared to a musician without a performance or an architect without a building.

Integrity and brotherly love

Viewed metaphysically, integrity demands that we see ourselves and others from the standpoint of Truth as spiritual ideas of God. To identify man as an imperfect mortal opposes divine law.

Divinely impelled discipline

Summing up a discussion about the importance of mental discipline, I read to my Sunday School class of high school seniors Paul's counsel, "Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
