Our family has been greatly blessed by the study of Christian Science. It has been our sole physician since I was a child. We have had many healings, both of physical disorders and of character traits. I offer this testimony in witness of God's healing ever-presence, to say with the Psalmist, "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: who for giveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases" (Ps. 103:2, 3).
When I was newly married, a condition was diagnosed as erosion of the cervix. I had not been aware of any problem. Medical treatment was foreign to the way I had been raised in Christian Science. In my heart I knew I could not be tempted to fall away from what I knew to be true of God and man as taught in Christian Science. I knew I could not be tempted to pursue any other method of healing. I held to these truths and to the statement in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 129): "We must abandon pharmaceutics, and take up ontology,— the science of real being.' We must look deep into realism instead of accepting only the outward sense of things." A subsequent examination some years later, at the time of the birth of our son, confirmed my healing, which had come about through prayer alone.
I had had a lovely healing shortly before, when I was X-rayed for a per employment exam. (This had given me added reason to stay with Christian Science during the above.) The examiners asked me to come in and repeat the X ray, because they were concerned. At that time I was very fearful and called a Christian Science practitioner for help in prayer. She gave me the statement (I John 1:5), "God is light, and in him is no darkness at all." This was exactly what I needed to hear, for I then realized that I, as God's reflection, was also filled with light, having no dark places. To paraphrase Jesus' words in Luke 11:34, my whole body was full of light. This dispelled the great fear, and the second set of X rays (which were different from the first, and very detailed) found no trace of any problem.
