The Gospel of Mark tells how Jesus restored mental soundness to an insane man, a Gadarene. No sooner did Jesus accomplish this than he crossed by ship to the opposite shore of the Galilean Sea, where he was approached and implored to heal Jairus's daughter, who was at the point of death. On the way to help this twelve-year-old child, Jesus healed a woman who had suffered from a hemorrhage for as many years. And "while he yet spake" to the woman, he was informed that Jairus's daughter was dead. He knew he had not sacrificed the opportunity to save the child in stopping to heal the woman. He knew he could apply God's healing laws at any point in space or time and get equally successful results. The child, too, was restored.See Mark 5;
In contemporary phrase one could almost say that during the Master's healing mission he barely had time to hang up the phone between calls. Surely, the great rapidity and spontaneity with which Jesus responded to human needs were the result not only of his clear awareness that divine Spirit, Mind, is the only Life of man, but also of his understanding that no one could come to him except the Father drew him.See John 6:44;
It must have been firmly established in Christ Jesus' thought that in truth he was forever linked to Mind, God, as His Son. Thus the Master's purpose was to represent this Mind, healing by its laws. He sought to help mankind change their base of thought from matter to Spirit so they, too, could become aware of the Father's allness and His constant love for them as His own perfect offspring.
