The operation of infinite Mind

From the May 1978 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In general usage the word "mind" denotes the matter-based consciousness and source of thought that are believed to belong to every human being and that give him identity. But in Christian Science the word assumes a higher meaning. It denotes God, the one infinite Mind, the All-in-all. This Mind, conscious of all truth, creates and governs the universe. Thus Science shows Mind to be the source of all real substance and power as well as the fount of all true ideas and consciousness.

God, Mind, governs His infinite, spiritual creation to the last, infinitesimal detail. "Man is God's image and likeness; whatever is possible to God, is possible to man as God's reflection," Miscellaneous Writings, p. 183; states Mrs. Eddy.

In the human realm, however, the demonstration of man's reflection of divine substance and power, of wholeness, peace, and joy, rests on one's awareness of spiritual truth. Not knowing truth, people err. A consciousness based on matter and the senses is limited, for the material senses cannot perceive infinite Truth. They imagine matter, disease, discord, and dismay where in reality spiritual substance, order, and peace abound.
