Exploring in depth what Christian Science is and how it heals.

John the Baptist and His Mission

In view of the significance of John the Baptist, the average reader of the New Testament shows relatively little knowledge of his work. We may well search the Gospels for a better understanding of this young man, who held a unique position in the unfoldment of the career of Christ Jesus, the Founder of Christianity.

An Age of Communication

We are living in an age of potentially universal communication. We have the technology by means of which one man's words could be heard by all men, virtually simultaneously.

"I can't be fooled by lame logic"

I know a family of Christian Scientists, now in its sixth generation, whose members have learned to defend their thinking from false theories, suggestions, and worldly allurements, which confront mankind today, with a firm declaration, "I can't be fooled by lame logic!" This is not a mere defensive stand on their part, socially restrictive, but a quick, bold thrust against whatever denies the Christ, the truth of man's unity with Spirit. Being the expression of Spirit, such a stand is the death blow to suggestions of power, intelligence, and substance opposed to God, which would conflict with true welfare and progress.

Eliminating Gaps

We hear a great deal about the generation gap, the labor-management gap, the race gap, have and have-not gap. Gaps separate people.

"Brother Saul"

What spiritual power acts through brotherly love! It replaces strife and violence with peace, anger and misunderstanding with calm, sin with reformation and purity, lack and misery with abundance, and sickness and suffering with healing. This love does not have its source in men or material means.

Divine Creation

The wisdom of ages found in the inspired teachings of the Bible reveals the fact that God exists as the one divine creator, the Father of His own spiritual and perfect universe. The theology of Christian Science affirms and illumines Bible declarations showing that God is omnipotent and all acting.

Educating the Affections

The greatest teacher of mankind was Christ Jesus, for he taught the Word of Truth not only by words but by works and example. His whole life was a spiritual education for men, bringing to light God's true nature as infinite, divine Love, and man's sonship with Him.

Annual Meeting of The Mother Church

The Annual Meeting of The Mother Church for 1971 was held in Boston on Monday, June 7, as provided for in the Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. Last year the meeting's theme was, "But What Can I Do?" On that occasion the opportunities of the individual Christian Scientist for spiritual growth and humane service to mankind were presented in reports and addresses and on film.

"Why this has the feel of a home just as a woman would make it!" said a Christian Scientist from Switzerland on her first visit to Mrs. Eddy's home at 12 Broad Street, Lynn, Massachusetts.

John the Baptist: Forerunner of the Messiah

For centuries the Jewish people had been anticipating the coming of an ideal leader, described as the "coming one" or, more especially, "the Messiah," literally "the Anointed"—one selected by God to act as His representative on earth. The Gospels present John, the son of Zacharias and Elisabeth, as the one who was given the vital task of preparing for and announcing the advent of the Messiah.
