Through the centuries many a religious congregation has worshiped with its back to the future. Too often it seems easier to venerate a past revelation than face up to a present need.

In the Bible, Matthew writes concerning Christ Jesus, "Great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them. " Matt.

It is natural for those who have been healed through Christian Science, whether of sickness, lack, or sorrow, to desire to write for the Christian Science periodicals. Their gratitude for benefits received through its teachings causes them to wish to share this uplifting experience with others, to communicate to the best of their ability the truths that have enriched their human experience, and to contribute toward the worldwide growth of the Science of Christ, Truth.

In the old "Upside-down Book," carefully preserved in Bow, New Hampshire, the name of Mary Morse Baker, later Mary Baker Eddy, first appears in written history. The worn leather volume has been affectionately called the "Upside-down Book" because, a century and a half ago, the town clerk started one set of records at the beginning and another set from the opposite end.

In today's world, where one hears of heart disease, organized crime, increasing divorce rates, drug addiction, campus violence, and myriad other problems, is there receptivity to spiritual truths? Is the Christ, Truth, having an effect on the world's troubled thought? Will the Science of Christ continue to have an effect in the years to come? The answer to all three questions is a resounding Yes. To study the Bible and the writings of Mrs.

The material universe is a universe of beliefs. The Christ, Truth, as taught and demonstrated by Christ Jesus, and brought into activity today through Christian Science, saves us from these beliefs.

Because she held him by one of his heels while dipping him in the river, this part of his body, not covered by the protective fluid, was his only vulnerable point.

The new or comparatively new student of Christian Science is likely at some time to ask himself, "When shall I be fit to heal others?" The question is important because it relates to a stage of maturity he desires to reach. But it is even more important because it implies that one is progressing in loving more actively.

The measure of an education in the various sciences of human knowledge is what one knows, while the test of one's education in technology, or applied science, is what he can do. In Christian Science one is educated in Science and applied Science, whether it be in Primary class teaching or in his daily study.
