One Sunday in my class of ninth-graders, even though I had a very well prepared Sunday School lesson, we never got to it. One of the girls had had a fight with her mom during the drive to church that morning and wanted to know how to pray about it.
A branch church reaches inward and outward Last year we began a series of monthly Outreach Membership Meetings on the Christian Science Sentinel, The Christian Science Journal , The Christian Science Monitor, and the Christian Science Quarterly. The intent of these meetings was for us to reach within ourselves to be sure we love and appreciate the gifts we have been given.
It was a yellowing, faded photograph and brought back many happy memories: five boys in their mid-teens gathered outside of a Christian Science Sunday School. I was the one in the middle, and all of us were dressed in our best Sunday clothes complete with suit and tie, overcoat, and broad-rimmed hat—looking like prim and proper adults on a smaller scale.
Does your branch church need a practitioner? Since the 1970s our church had been without a Journal -listed practitioner. In the December 1984 Journal, "The Church in Action" column included reports from Christian Science churches that, in finding themselves without Journal -listed practitioners, had resolved the situation through prayer.
Cornerstone laid One hundred years ago this year, a small band of Christian Scientists, under the leadership of Mary Baker Eddy, undertook the construction of the Original Edifice of The Mother Church. From time to time this year, we'll recall the spiritual import behind significant events that took place during the construction.

This year's Annual Meeting continues our Church's focus on Science and Health by considering the textbook's role, together with the Bible, as the pastor.

People can feel mighty challenged when they are called to serve in a new position. In such a case, a Christian Scientist will turn to God, the source of all intelligence, for guidance and inspiration for the task at hand.
Having started a small group of Christian Scientists in a small town, I often felt alone in my endeavors. Church was in the next town, and I could rarely attend there, so the group started Sunday services.
