Sharing Christian Science one-to-one From a branch church Our branch church wanted to know what it is, really, that touches an individual's heart so profoundly that he would then decide to commit his life to Christian Science. Considering that all members in our branch church had to make this radical decision for themselves at one point in their lives, we decided to ask the entire church membership to focus on this issue by submitting a brief account of how they or their relatives came into Christian Science.

Last October, the Clerk of The Mother Church sent a letter to all Christian Science Sunday School superintendents and staff, asking them for their insights on Sunday School. Letters and phone calls have been coming in steadily, and this is a sampling of what has been received.

Meeting people where they are A man called the Reading Room, stating that he would like to talk with someone about Christian Science. He was confined to a medical care facility but had been introduced to Christian Science some years ago.

When students become acquainted with a Reading Room I teach the senior class in Sunday School. This is the second year that we have had an outing to visit our church's Reading Room.

Children "in the midst" About four years ago, when I was Sunday School superintendent, we began actively encouraging young people and children to participate in the Wednesday evening testimony meetings. The Sunday School teachers gathered for a workshop and discussed ways of encouraging children to attend on Wednesday and give testimonies.

We have an opportunity, through the pages of the Journal, to engage in a worldwide workshop on Sunday School. Actually, the workshop has been in process for a long time.

New display of Bible Collection open to the public You are invited to see our new selection of Bibles from The Mother Church's Historical Bible Collection. The Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, treasured and studied the Scriptures from earliest childhood, and she urged her students to do the same.

Almost a century ago, Mary Baker Eddy founded the Christian Science Sunday School. In the October 1895 issue of this magazine, she wrote the following special notice : These simple paragraphs became the basis of the By-Laws in the Manual of The Mother Church giving Sunday Schools a permanent place in The Mother Church and its branches.
