Christian Science Society, Carmel, California It is sixteen years since Christian Science came to Carmel. The first Christian Science services were held at Pine Inn, in May, 1902.
Second Church of Christ, Scientist, Portland, Oregon This church was organized March 15, 1897. Services were held for a number of years in several different halls in the city.
First Church Of Christ, Scientist, Zanesville. Ohio For several years prior to 1901, meetings were held at intervals at various homes in the city, where the weekly lessons were read.
First Church of Christ, Scientist, Marshall, Michigan It was early in 1894 that the Christian Science movement started in Marshall. At the time there was one class student, besides a few others who were daily applying the healing power of Truth and Love in this city.
The writer has always felt deeply grateful for the privilege of being a pupil in a Christian Science Sunday school. Young people are often shy about going to a practitioner for help in the overcoming of their everyday troubles in school or at the start of their business careers, and it is just here that the Sunday school lends such a helping hand.
First Church of Christ, Scientist, New Haven, Connecticut It may be interesting and helpful to follow the human footsteps of those pioneers of Christian Science who labored to realize the lofty ideal of Church given on page 583 of Science and Health, and to establish their highest concept of it in this community. One of the first incidents of interest in connection with the movement in this city occurred in 1879 when Mrs.
First Church of Christ, Scientist, Auburn and Lewiston, Maine WITH the passing of April, 1917, a quarter century mark is established in the spread of the truths of Christian Science in the twin cities of Auburn and Lewiston, Maine, for it was on April 13, 1892, that the church work was organized here. Preliminary sowing of seed had been in progress two years, and services on Sunday were continued regularly after August, 1890, the initial one in rooms in Bank Block, Lewiston, then in a private home in Auburn, and later in various halls in that city, changes being made from time to time as larger accommodations were needed.
First Church of Christ, Scientist, West Chester, Pennsylvania On August 29, 1898, seven students of Christian Science met and organized as First Church of Christ, Scientist, in West Chester, Pennsylvania, inviting to join with them nine other persons who were known to be interested in this teaching. Prior to this, Sunday morning services in the form prescribed for all Christian Science churches had been held in private houses for some two or three years, and Friday evening experience meetings, as they were called, had been held for about, a year.
First Church of Christ, Scientist, Wheaton, Illinois In August, 1902, one who had been healed through Christian Science invited a number of others, who had also found help in time of need through its teachings, to meet and consider the advisability of establishing Christian Science services in Wheaton. On October 11 arrangements were made for the first service, and invitations were sent to a number of families; also plans were formed for a lecture in the spring.
Christian Science Society, Pretoria, Transvaal, South Africa In the month of May, 1903, the good news of Christian Science was first brought to Pretoria by a lady who had been healed of a chronic complaint through reading the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. It may be of interest to note that she obtained the book through a friend, who in turn had heard of Christian Science through one who had ordered a copy of Science and Health from Boston after reading in the Review of Reviews an article containing an exposition of Christian Science as given at the World's Fair held in Chicago many years ago.
