Putting on record insights into the practice of Christian Science.

SOME ASPECTS OF CHRISTIAN SCIENCE

IT is highly desirable that students of Christian Science should gain and maintain more correct knowledge of its teachings in some of its important aspects. For example, it is right, first of all, to understand that Christian Science is revealed truth rather than the mere expression of human opinion about the truth.

WE have met here this evening as Christian Scientists to become better acquainted with the vital purpose underlying the world-wide activities of The Mother Church and its branches. We have met also as co-workers in a common cause to dedicate ourselves anew to the promotion of that Cause and to the extension of its healing and redemptive work.

SALVATION

In speaking of Christ Jesus, Mary Baker Eddy has written on page 95 of the Christian Science textbook, "The effect of his Mind was always to heal and to save. " It was because he expressed and invariably identified himself with the one Mind, that Jesus was in fact the Saviour of the world.

DEMONSTRATING DIVINE LIFE

The work of Christ Jesus reveals a simple and clearly understandable pattern, in the light of Christian Science. He was consistently teaching and demonstrating the real nature of Life.

"LET THE OPPRESSED GO FREE"

Unquestionably , the tendency of the human mind is, in all ways, to impose upon itself a sense of limitation. It moves, so to speak, in an area of restriction.

TRUE DOMINION

The word "dominion," used in the first chapter of Genesis to indicate the nature of God's provision for man, does not signify authority that is conditional or limited. Some of the terms defining it in dictionaries are "sovereign or supreme authority," "the power of governing," and "independent right of possession, use, and control.

ALL NATIONS

The writers of the Old Testament visualized a world where there would be no further conflict. This is symbolically described by Isaiah as the Lord's house, which would be established in the top of the mountains, and all nations would flow unto it.

ATONEMENT—AN INDIVIDUAL EXPERIENCE

Writing on the subject of atonement more than sixty years ago, Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, said, "The time is not distant when the ordinary theological views of atonement will undergo a great change,—a change as radical as that which has come over popular opinions in regard to predestination and future punishment" ( Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 24 ).

THE CHURCH AS AN INSTITUTION

All Christian Scientists are familiar with the definition of "Church," on page 583 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Doubtless many have observed that this definition is in two paragraphs, the first being as follows: "The structure of Truth and Love; whatever rests upon and proceeds from divine Principle.

"THE STANDARD OF PERFECTION"

Christ Jesus came lifting up a standard for the people. Throughout his whole experience on earth as the Son of man this standard was never lowered.
