Of Good Report
In my country, the Democratic Republic of Congo, the completion of high school involves taking a national exam that tests students on all the concepts they’ve learned. The exam can seem intimidating, and at my school it was made even more so by seniors who had already graduated and were in the habit of scaring us by saying that success on the exam was based on luck, rather than on how we studied and answered the questions.
The first time I came face to face with resistance to equal opportunities for women was in 1966. I was managing a fast-food franchise and found it difficult to attract qualified men to work in the restaurant during the daytime hours.
More and more I’ve been working on staying in an absolute consciousness of Love during every moment, every interaction. One of the synonyms for God is Love, and as I continue my study of Christian Science, I grow more certain that Love is the only power and is governing every aspect of my life.

I have had the privilege of teaching in different Christian Science Sunday Schools over many years. This has shown me how well children respond to consideration, compassion, and love.
March is Women’s History Month in the United States, and this year it honors the suffragists, whose valiant efforts gained women the right to vote. Over a span of eighty years these women tirelessly wrote, gave speeches, marched, and even went to prison in support of their cause, which culminated in the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution granting all citizens the same voting rights regardless of gender.
The woman in front of me at our little local grocery store was buying several bags of a gourmet food item. “That looks good,” I told her.
