“We are undisturbed.” These were the words of assurance I spoke to my neighbors. My husband and I had just arrived home from a trip to see our house in a shambles after a break-in.
In autumn of 2018, my husband and I had made a long journey to stay in a beautiful part of the country to celebrate a special occasion. On the morning after our arrival, I received a phone call from my neighbor to say that our house had been broken into and we should return home. I expressed gratitude for her call and assured her that we would return immediately.
Soon after we heard from our neighbor, I shared with my husband, who is not a Christian Scientist, that we could feel undisturbed by this experience, and this powerful concept did away with fear. Turning immediately to the ever-present Christ and to the teachings of Christian Science to lead us onward and upward, I claimed our right to be “undisturbed amid the jarring testimony of the material senses” as explained in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy (p. 306).
