Testimonies of Healing

My healing in Christian Science has always seemed to me to be like that of the lame man who was healed by Peter and john at the gate Beautiful, and it was "without money and without price. " I had 'been sick all my life with supposedly inherited and chronic troubles.

When nine years of age I was taken with a severe nervous trouble, which our family doctor said was due to overstudy, and that I must stop going to school. I went, however, until I was fifteen years old, when I was obliged to stop on account of poor health.

From infancy I had been subject to disease, and before reaching maturity had had nearly all the ills to which the flesh is heir. My troubles finally developed into a chronic affection of the lungs, liver, and bowels.

It seems as if I could not go on accepting the blessings which have come to me through an understanding of Christian Science without sending in my testimony to the power of divine Love. From childhood, until gaining an understanding of Christian Science, I was in bondage to many physical and mental troubles, but through the power of Truth I was made free.

It is now nearly six years since I began the study of Christian Science. I was supposed to have inherited a tendency to lung trouble, which finally took the form of disease of the knee joint.

I am a train despatcher by profession, and through the healing by Christian Science which I have experienced, I am now able to continue in my responsible position, instead of having to give it up, disabled through a paralytic trouble of the right arm and hand. I had since childhood been troubled with severe nervousness, accompanied by headaches, etc.

Before I had accepted Christian Science as the truth, and while I was still in the valley of decision, I was ever watching the Science literature for a testimony relating the experience of some one who had tried Christian Science treatment for an affliction like my own. In the hope that there may be some others watching these pages in like manner, eager to drink in the truth that they may be set free from their bondage as I have been, I wish to give a word of assurance, although I am unable to express all of the blessings that I have received since coming into Science.

I HEARD for the first time of Christian Science as something more than a name, in June, 1906, from a friend who had been a student of the Science for some years. I had observed the appearance of perfect health in herself and her children, and I noticed that she seemed to have no anxiety about her children's health.

In the early part of February, 1898, I received an injury to my right eye which placed me in the hospital for fifteen days; during which time and after I was in constant pain until the following February, when I was again placed in the hospital for six months. While the doctors did everything they could to subdue the pain, the only relief I received was from the application of cocaine.

I would like to tell of the healing of my little girl, now grown to young womanhood. She had a serious affection of the ankle-joint, which did not respond to medical treatment; in time, indeed, it extended toward the heel.
