While often glorified in literature and movies, sensuality can be one of the darkest places a person can be mentally. Extreme forms of sensuality, such as addiction to pornography, can overtake people, causing them to betray their true selves and separating them from their best interests and from normal relationships with others, especially those they love.

Being firmly convinced by experience that the study and application of the biblically based truths of Christian Science heals, is the reason many people choose to consistently rely upon and practice this demonstrable Science. This conviction that Christian Science heals inheres in the acknowledgment that the truths explained in Mary Baker Eddy’s seminal book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, were revealed to her from God, divine Mind.

When Jesus met a man blind from birth, his disciples asked a question indicating they viewed the man’s blindness as a kind of penalty attached to him: “Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?” Jesus’ compassion and spiritual understanding exposed as a lie that false theological belief, when he replied: “Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him” ( John 9:2, 3 ). Then Jesus healed the man, proving that the man of God’s creating is perfect, forever free of penalties, forever sinless and upright.

This author writes, “In spiritual reality, [Love] is actually the substance of our being and of everything in God’s creation. Love, God, is expressed in all creation, including us.”

Whether our schools , office buildings, and churches have reopened their physical doors, are reopening, or hope to, we have the opportunity for deep, consecrated prayer. Wherever our individual nation or state is during this period, there are many important topics to consider, including, What are the official requirements we must abide by? and, How do we demonstrate harmony among those who participate? In praying for my local church and the extended community, I have found great comfort and guidance by turning to two precious books that serve as the pastor of The Church of Christ, Scientist: the Holy Bible, and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.

God has a place for every one of us—a right home, companionship, fulfilling work, a satisfying purpose—and nothing can keep us from these. The Bible says, “Behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it” ( Revelation 3:8 ).

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof” ( Psalms 46:1–3 ).

Growing up, I learned about Christ Jesus and knew of the many healings recorded in the Bible. But I had never been taught that we, too, could heal physical problems.

One of the most dramatic episodes recorded in the Old Testament occurred when the Hebrew prophet Elisha healed Naaman, the Syrian, of leprosy (see I I Kings 5:1–19   ). Naaman was “a mighty man in valour,” whose military leadership had won important victories for the king of Syria.

We tend to think of the concept of “capacity” in terms of how much something can hold, or the ability of individuals or things. And because capacity is typically measured in material terms, it is thought of as limited, finite.
