Poems

Inspirational verse submitted by readers.

He opens your ear*

God's law speaks to you With the clear ring of understanding, The high tones of Truth, The low, sweet resonance of Love. God has fashioned you To hear His voice.

For all mankind

Since God is everywhere I know that I can think beyond The farthest star— Past world on world— And find His presence there. Since God is everywhere His light and goodness shine Throughout the infinite range Of His inspired design.

Forever dearly loved

Dear one, you're God's perfect child, cared for, joyous, undefiled. Thoughts of evil cannot bind the vital potency of Mind.

Jesus' way

Seeing all, judging none. Aware always of the spiritual road to take, mountain to climb bread to break, winds to calm words to speak, wounds to heal.

Unselfed

Set upon by Satan to exalt himself, our Master consented not. His Father's honor alone Jesus undeviatingly sought.

Christ attraction

What drew you to the burning bush, O Moses, with your rod? I was impelled to turn aside and listen to my God. What drew you out of lions' den, O Daniel, man of prayer? It was my faithfulness to God that took me from the lair.

Learning to "pray aright"*

Not like a shooting star slicing the night, with a big flashy tail for all the world to see. But as a candle whose silent, modest expression tempers the dark.

His presence

Remembering I never knelt Without His presence Being felt, I came to cherish Homely chores, Like pulling weeds And scrubbing floors, And kneeling by A young one's bed When the evening Prayers were said. So little time To read His Word, I listened, loving What I heard.

God's gifts

Light, instant and forever, Heaven's peaceful harmony, Dominion over earthly things; All these are given me. Clear thought, deep wisdom, strength Are mine to know.

I am Your poem

I am the cosmic tale You spin as gently You tuck comets in; I am the lilting lay You teach to fledglings in their downy perch. And O, Thou immortal poet, I am Your eternal sonnet.
