THE ANGELS OF GOD'S PRESENCE

How the angels of God's presence Hallowed the first Easter day! Tidings glad of Life they brought. Lo, the holy deed is wrought! Jesus Christ has shown the way Through the angels of God's presence.

ANGELS OF LIGHT

God's thoughts to man! How comforting to know He sends His angels to us, swift of wing, To liberate us from our dreams of woe, To loose our bonds, and cause our hearts to sing! How oft, dispelling darkness, doth He send To us some bright-winged messenger of peace! Then all is light! And joyfully we wend Our upward way; and mortal fear doth cease. Our God is Light.

HEAVENLY SPIRIT

Heavenly Spirit, holy light, Shining through this mortal night! Lead me from all low desires, Fill my heart with noble fires, Guide my steps aright! Heavenly Spirit, sacred balm, Hold the tempest with Thy calm! Hush the sobs and bitter tears, Broken hopes and trembling fears; Keep me from all harm! Heavenly Spirit, judge and friend, All my human planning end! Let me walk unbound and free, Asking naught but faith in Thee, Rest, which Thou dost send!

"LET THERE BE LIGHT"

O Brother , striving for earth's paltry greatness, Of what poor moment will it all appear When that now imaged on our dull perception, Shall flash in God's great knowledge, perfect, clear! O world, strive on with nobler aim and purpose! Darkness is passing, for the light is here, The truth of Being, Life that knows no ending, And perfect Love that casts aside all fear.

FAITH

" Where is your faith?" the Master said, When waves were rough and tempest high. He knew the seamen's troubled sense; He heard the bitter human cry.

FREEDOM

In quietness and confidence We turn our thoughts to Thee, Rejoicing in assurance sweet Of Love that waits to free From aught that would becloud the way, Or dim the vision clear, Or enter into consciousness To sound a note of fear. Within this ever perfect Love Is healing from all pain, And pardon, which destroys sin, Restoring peace again; And from this Love, the light of Life, Effulgent, shines o'er all; The dream of death no longer holds, Nor do its fears appall.

MEEKNESS

Falteringly a hope I breathe, A holy, deep desire; a wish That trembles ere it speaks—hushed In humility. Such mighty works as Jesus did, be mine to do.

MAN IS THE SON OF GOD

Man is the son of God; He is not formed of clod. God's holy Word created man; Only the perfect shows His plan.

"A FEW THINGS"

He who is faithful in a few small things Shall rule o'er many, so our Master said— Bid many thoughts of fear and sin depart And know the happiness a kind thought brings. The little things it is that make or mar The harmony with which we may surround Ourselves and others: just a little thing That, in a night of doubt, gleams like a star.

GROWTH

When Truth dawned first upon my sight, Revealing power unknown, I thought to reach some height sublime, And walk with God alone. I looked beyond the things at hand To find deeds more divine, And thought in far transcendencies To see Love's glory shine.
