BENEDICTION

From the July 1928 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Love be with thee in the silence,
Comfort thee and keep thy heart,
Love be with thee in the shadows
When the anxious teardrops start.

Love be with thee in the tumult
When confusion seeks to reign,
Point thee to a wiser purpose
Far than futile human gain.

Love be with thee on the hilltop
Where thy climbing footsteps go,
Love surround thee in the valley
Where the quiet waters flow.

Love dispel the night's dark terror,
Prove no pestilence can harm,
Crown the victory over error,
Stilling every vain alarm.

Love be present when vain discord
Dims thy sense of harmony,
When the mist of false creation
Seems between thy Lord and thee.

When thou goest out or comest
In at duty's shining door,
Angel hosts unseen protect thee—
Love is with thee evermore!
