Testimonies of Healing
ONE SUMMER EVENING I was out riding my bicycle with my husband when my front tire got stuck in a crevice in the road, and I was thrown quite forcefully onto the street. My husband tried to help me up, but I wasn't able to move one of my legs.
THIS PAST JULY, I set off to climb the highest mountain in Africa, Mt. Kilimanjaro, with three friends.
A FEW YEARS AGO I was involved in an accident and injured my back after falling to the ground from a height of about ten feet. I could walk, but there was constant pain in my lower back.
I BEGAN TO STUDY Christian Science after my younger sister, Giselle, was healed of multiple sclerosis when she was in college in the United States (see Christian Science Sentinel, October 11, 2004, p. 18).
I HAD TAKEN A DAY OFF from work to help my in-laws sort through things for a yard sale at their parents' house before it was sold. It was the middle of summer, and the house had been closed up for months.
FOR WELL OVER A YEAR, at times I would be in such intense pain in my lower chest that I felt as if I were losing consciousness. The first such attack occurred one night when the pain was so severe that I did pass out.
Originally published in O Arauto da Christian Science I FOUND OUT about Christian Science during my adolescent years. I always liked Science and Health very much, and when I needed help, I would read it.
DESPERATE, I walked out to the middle of a bridge, leaned over the rail, and stared at the water beneath. I considered jumping.
I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN INSPIRED by accounts in the Bible of Jesus' marvelous healing work. His theology presents good as the only reality.
ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO, over a period of about two months, I could only hear a few of the testimonies at church on Wednesday nights. Gradually I could not hear them at all.
