Testimonies of Healing
WHEN I BEGAN TO STUDY Christian Science I noticed a lot of positive changes in my life. Many unpleasant character traits dropped away, my job situation turned around for the better, and my home life became more harmonious.
WHEN I AM TEACHING my high school (and older) Sunday School students about reliance on God for good in their lives, I mention the first chapter of Genesis, which describes God as good, and as creating man and woman equal and wholly good. In fact, seeing creation as already perfect is the way Jesus healed, as Mary Baker Eddy explained in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.
IN MY EARLY TEENS I had an accident that tore and displaced the ligaments around my spine. This left the spine not quite straight.
WHILE MY HUSBAND AND I were walking in our neighborhood, I tripped over a crack in the sidewalk where tree roots had lifted the concrete. I landed full force on my face, with my nose and chin taking the blow.
I FELT LIKE I WAS STUCK IN A RUT. As a single mother of two young children, I craved more structure, direction, and financial security in my life.
It was after the Christmas holidays, and I was busy taking down decorations and storing them in the basement. On one trip down the stairs, I felt something shift in my hip, and suddenly I couldn't move one of my legs.
I used to consume huge amounts of coffee—morning, noon, and night. Whenever I tried to cut back on my consumption, I would suffer from violent headaches.
It was the blizzard of '76. I was in college, living in a small attic apartment in Buffalo, New York.
I have always loved animals and have found them to be especially receptive to spiritual healing over the years. So when a parakeet my husband and I rescued from New York City's Riverside Park began to manifest symptoms of a growth on his chest, we prayed.
During a bus tour in November 1999, I fell while carrying my luggage in a hotel. It was a hard fall and so painful that I felt it wise to go to the emergency room.
