Testimonies of Healing

THE FIRST TIME I picked up Science and Health and read its first sentence, "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings" ( p. vii ), it grabbed my attention right away.

I AM A HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER and my job can be rather stressful. One morning during a lesson, my left eye seemed rather blurry.

ABOUT A WEEK BEFORE my baby was due, I had a funny feeling and thought it was time for the baby to come, so I went to the clinic. However, I was told that it was not yet time, that it was false labor.

ONE NIGHT MY RIGHT UPPER ARM became painful, and it was difficult for me to move it. Soon I felt a constant, throbbing pain in the entire arm.

IT WAS A QUIET SUNDAY afternoon. I decided to go out to the garden to cut some peonies from a bush that's surrounded by loose, ornamental rock next to a capped utility hole.

ONE DAY, I noticed a small growth on the back of my shoulder. Because I'm accustomed to relying on prayer for healing, I began to pray about this situation.

ONE MORNING WHILE DRESSING, I felt a pea-size lump under the skin in my upper leg. Because I had experienced so many healings through Christian Science in my life, I was sure that this could be healed through prayer.

I WAS AT THE OFFICE when I got the call. My eight-year-old daughter, Sarah, had severely injured her ankle.

I WAS EXPERIENCING a sharp pain in the big toe of my left foot. Because I've experienced physical healing through Christian Science before, I immediately began praying.

AFTER MY DAUGHTER WAS BORN, many healings seemed to come easily, naturally. I had spent my months of pregnancy studying the Bible and Science and Health, which offered a storehouse of healing ideas that fed our family throughout my daughter's first months of infancy.
