On upward wing

From the January 2006 issue of The Christian Science Journal

ABOUT A WEEK BEFORE my baby was due, I had a funny feeling and thought it was time for the baby to come, so I went to the clinic. However, I was told that it was not yet time, that it was false labor. I was put under observation and some tests were conducted. I was told that there was a mass on the side of my stomach and that I would need some further tests.

When I informed the Christian Science practitioner, who had been praying with me, about this development, she suggested that I study page 301 of Science and Health, which includes this sentence: "Delusion, sin, disease, and death arise from the false testimony of material sense, which, from a supposed standpoint outside the focal distance of infinite Spirit, presents an inverted image of Mind and substance with everything turned upside down." I studied every word on this page carefully and prayed along this line: Life, Truth, and Love—in other words, God—present the true, spiritual testimony of a perfect image of Mind and substance, with everything upright, whole, complete, in its rightful place. No obstruction, no blockage.

By the time all the tests had been completed the following day, everything was normal. There was no mass anywhere. Everything was just perfect, and I was told to go home.
