Testimonies of Healing
I give my testimony with a heart overflowing with joy and thanksgiving to God for all His goodness and mercy to His children, with an earnest prayer that it may turn some other weary wanderer, in search of "living water," to this haven of rest in divine Science. I thank God for our beloved Leader, Mrs.
About the middle of November, 1906, I was taken with a dreaded illness. I was at home and in bed for three weeks, and as I became worse was finally taken to a hospital.
I was so much helped and cheered in the beginning of my experience with Christian Science by the testimonies in our periodicals that I trust this one may also be of use to some sufferer. Many years ago I had a very serious illness, which brought me nearly to death's door.
While living in Boston, many years ago, I first heard of mental healing. My interest was aroused, for I had been a semiinvalid for three years, and I was anxious to find relief from my misery.
For the benefit of pain-ridden and fear-burdened humanity, I desire to say in words of very deep gratitude that Christian Science heals physically, morally, and — best of all— spiritually. Two and one half years ago I was entirely healed, in two weeks' treatment, of an aggravated form of spinal trouble.
I feel that I cannot better begin the new year than by a public acknowledgment of what Christian Science has done for me, though the part that I can tell is small indeed. I was brought up on medicine.
In March, 1897, I was very ill with what the physicians said was an internal abscess. I had also suffered for about twelve years with severe hemorrhagic attacks induced by bowel trouble, often having as many as ten or twelve a day.
Eighteen months before I heard of Christian Science I had been pronounced incurable from an acute stomach disease. I had suffered from this disease for over twenty years, and had been to many doctors and taken a great deal of medicine.
I WISH to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me. From early childhood I was afflicted with heart disease, and frequently had severe attacks of throat trouble.
Christian Science was first brought to my attention some twenty-eight years ago, through the healing of a very dear sister of mine. After several years of constant treatment by the medical profession, and by the advice of our physician, we had sent her to the high altitudes of the Rocky Mountains, from there to the pine hills of Idaho, and from there to the severe climate of northern Canada; but all to no avail, until the poor girl was so tired and worn out that life seemed a burden to her.
