Testimonies of Healing
I HAD BEEN TAUGHT the Old Testament in Hebrew, but even as a little child I felt there was a mystery — veiled and secret — in those sacred pages. I searched for answers, often in the wrong places, and studied Buddhism, spiritualism, psychology, philosophy.
One day my sister telephoned me and said that she had bought a copy of Science and Health and that she would like to bring it to me. She replied, "If this book will do half as much for you as it has for me, it will be well worth my trip.
I HAD JUST FINISHED READING a modern translation of the New Testament and decided that I should also read the Koran, the Book of Mormon, and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy to have a complete picture. Science and Health began to be helpful to me as soon as I began to read it.
I did not read Science and Health because I was in need of healing, but to find God and have purpose and satisfaction in life. I have had small physical healings, but the biggest one, which has brought the most blessings, is the healing of deafness in one ear.
WHERE DO I BEGIN? When I finally obtained a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, I was at one of the lowest points in my life. I felt very alone and separated from God.
WHEN I WAS BORN, I was diagnosed with a skin condition called weeping eczema. Doctors told my parents that it could not be cured and that I would live with it all of my life.
WHEN I FIRST CAME ACROSS Science and Health, I was in a lot of pain because of a broken tail bone and dislocated shoulder from a fall. The doctors told me I'd have to have surgery and therapy.
I had no idea what to expect, and boy was this a welcome surprise. I can barely put Science and Health down.
I'm so excited about my new life since finding this book! I've been reading Science and Health for about three months, and I can't even put into words what my life is like now. I've been on a spiritual search for years, but I needed more, and Science and Health is it.
ONE EVENING, I rushed down the front porch steps of a house where I had been working, stepped into a hole in the ground, and bent my ankle backward. I fell to the ground, and as I lay there, I immediately began to pray.
