ADMISSION AND COMMUNION

From the February 1887 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The communion services of the Church of Christ (Scientist), Boston, were held Jan. 30th, and although the weather proved inclement, the house was filled with an intelligent, interested audience. The beloved pastor of the church, Rev. Mary Baker G. Eddy, received the new members, and conducted the communion services. She was ably assisted by her student Rev. J. S. Norvell, C. S. B., who preached on the Transfiguration, and taught a lesson needful in the present hour.

The Pastor then addressed the audience, breaking for them the Bread of Life in a way that her people feel no other can do, and every word she spoke sank deep into their thought, to bring forth fruit in due season.

The new members, of which there were seventeen, were then received into the church. Then came the silent communion and the benediction. At the close of the services, the altar was crowded with those anxious to speak with Mrs. Eddy. Many went away disappointed, not being able to reach the platform. Bro. Palmer did not forget his customary bouquet.
