Testimonies of Healing

Letter to Rev. Mrs. Eddy

From the February 1887 issue of The Christian Science Journal

My Dear Teacher:—I have for some time been trying to write this letter, for felt that you would be glad to hear how I am succeeding, as well as to learn that Christian Science is attracting attention in Rochester. I send you an account of a few cases I have healed, some absent, others here.

A gentleman telegraphed me to treat his wife, who was very sick with inflammation of the bowels. On the third day her husband wrote: " My wife was up yesterday, but it was hard work for her to get about." The next day he wrote: " My wife is much better. One would hardly know she had been sick. The attack she has now had, is similar to one she had last winter, when she was confined to her bed for a week, and was miserable for about two weeks afterward, with the doctor calling every day, and some days twice." The next day he wrote : " My wife has improved amazingly. She feels better, and can endure more than before she was sick. She has been on her feet all day. Her bowels are all right."

A young girl, after scarlet fever, was attacked with ulceration of the bowels, the doctor said: was dropsical, had a racking cough, raised blood, and was so weak she could scarcely pen me a few lines in pencil. Her mother wrote that she coughed incessantly, for two days and two nights. After the first treatment she slept all night, without coughing once to her knowledge. In six weeks her mother wrote that she was well.
