Christian Science was first brought to my notice by a friend who had been healed and who lent me Science and Health, which I tried to read but returned in a short time, remarking that I could not understand it. While I was in Chicago during the World's Fair, staying with acquaintances who are Christian Scientists, and who I knew had experienced wonderful healing, this truth was again brought to my notice and rejected.
At this time and previously I was afflicted with catarrh of the head and throat, which caused me much discomfort and which affected the eyesight so that I was obliged to begin wearing glasses in order to continue my school work.
I went on in this condition, each year other diseases manifesting themselves, until July, 1901, when my husband insisted on my trying Christian Science for relief, since medicines seemed to do no good. In a short time I told him I would do so if he would read Science and Health with me, which he promised to do.
