I have received so much benefit from Christian Science, both spiritually and physically, that I would like to express my gratitude to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and to all those who have so kindly and lovingly helped me in Christian Science. Three years ago last January I was cured of an ailment that I had been under from infancy. It was overcome in two weeks in Christian Science. I had been under the doctor's care for two years and a half, for stomach and various other troubles, but was helped very little. All these were met in Christian Science in a very short while. I had also worn glasses for eighteen years. The sight of my left eye was almost gone, but after eight months of work in Christian Science, and the realization of the truth that God is All in all, I can truthfully say that my eyes are normal, and the sight of my left eye is as good as that of the right. It is over two years since I left off my glasses, and I have never missed them.
Last winter my little son, three years of age, had an attack of pneumonia and croup. As fear seemed to prevail I called in a Christian Science practitioner for help. When she arrived (we lived in the country), it seemed as if he were about to pass away. His uncle arrived just a little before the practitioner, and did not know he was ill. When he entered the room and saw him lying on the bed, almost lifeless as it seemed, he said, "Harry, you are ill." Though he could hardly speak for the short breathing, my little son said, "I am God's child, I cannot be ill." The practitioner arrived in the mean time. She treated him during the day, and that evening he was down stairs,—able to eat his dinner with the rest of the family. In eight treatments he was perfectly well. He never would say he was ill. About two months ago, he seemed to have a fever and a sore throat. He was unable to rise as usual, and asked me to give him a treatment. I did not respond quickly, and he said, "Mother, you leave the room and I will realize the truth myself. In less than fifteen minutes I opened the door and he was sleeping. When he awoke he was perfectly well. "We walk in the footsteps of Truth and Love, by following the example of our Master in the understanding of Metaphysics" (Science and Health, p. 192). I thank God for the example He has given us.
